Due roadworks along Holloway Head and at Holloway Circus, there have been significant delays to the 80, 80A, 98 & X64 as a result we are implementing an emergency temporary diversion from Wednesday 4th October.
Following a consultation with passengers and stakeholders over the preferred diversionary route, the route of these services between Five Ways and Birmingham City Centre will change towards Birmingham direction only.
From tomorrow buses will run along Broad Street, Great Charles Street Queensway, Snow Hill Queensway, Old Square, Priory Queensway and Moor Street Queensway to rejoin their existing line of route at Smallbrook Queensway (more than 70% of respondents to our consultation preferred this option).
Stops along Bath Row and Holloway Head towards Birmingham will not be able to be served. From Birmingham, these stops will remain open as usual.
The 80 and 80A will no longer be able to serve stops on Upper Dean Street (for the Markets), or Station Street. Passengers travelling to and from the Markets area of the City can use the spiral staircase to access alternative stops on Smallbrook Queensway.
On the diversionary route, all bus stops along Broad Street and Great Charles Street Queensway will be served. The 80 & 80A will then use stop SQ3 on Snow Hill Queensway, BS8 on Priory Queensway and MS13 on Moor Street Queensway. From Smallbrook Queensway outbound, all stops will remain served as usual.
We are very sorry to customers for the delays they may have been experiencing throughout the last couple of weeks as a result of these works. We have worked with Birmingham City Council to try to reduce their impact but have been unable to reach a satisfactory resolution.
