15 great things to do by bus

15. Try a Balti

  • The Balti curry, created in Birmingham, is traditionally served in a steel bowl. If you fancy a curry we recommend visiting the Balti Triangle, where you’ll find a collection of Balti houses that is often said to be where the Balti originated from. Services like our 6 and 31 regularly serve the Triangle.

 14. Spend a day at the racetrack with Teamsports Karting

  • There isn’t anything quite like a day of adrenaline fueled excitement of Go-karting. Getting you and your friends onto the track is relatively cheap and our 97 service can drop you off opposite the track near Fazeley Studios (Look out for the big sky blue doors!)

13. Take a trip to the Black Country Living Museum

  • Go back in time with the Black Country Living Museum and explore 26 acres covering over 200 years of history and see the evolution of the Black Country before your eyes. As a bus traveller you can get 25% off admission with this coupon. Our 11 bus from Dudley and the 13 from Walsall can you drop you off right outside.

12. A day out in Moseley

  • The home of a former Prime Minister and inspiration of Tolkien, Moseley is a quaint suburb just outside the city centre. Famous for it’s award winning farmer’s market and collection of independent businesses. Places like the Prince of Wales pub or the Cuban Embassy make for a unique night out, all just a bus ride away on our 50 service.

11. Day out at Walsall Art Gallery

  • Based in the centre of the Walsall’s town centre and just a few minutes away from Walsall’s bus station, you can enjoy a number of internationally recognised pieces, regular workshops and talks all with free admission. There is no excuse not to check out Walsall’s Art Gallery.

10. Explore the Gas Street canals/ BrindleyPlace

  • Birmingham’s favourite bit of trivia is we have more canals than Venice. You will find an array of restaurants and bars around the canals and you’re at the heart of Birmingham’s nightlife scene on Broad Street ,Brindleyplace and the Mailbox. This area is well served by our Broad Street services.

9. A day out shopping at New Square

  • Fancy a change of scenery? The New Square, shopping centre, at the heart of West Bromwich offers a range of top high street names, a number of outlet stores, a cinema and eateries all in one place. Just a few minutes walk away from West Bromwich bus station, we recommend using our 74 or 80 services for a fun day out.

8. Catch a show at the Old Joint Stock

  • Tucked away in the middle of Birmingham’s city centre, the Old Joint Stock offers a great pub experience within an old Victorian bank. Complete with a hidden theatre inside, with anything from stand up comedy to live music. With it being so conveniently placed within the city centre, buses from the Colmore Row bus stops would put you 5 mins away.

7. Try a burger at Burger Priest, Wolverhampton

  • The Black Country is begging to be explored, and now you have a tasty incentive. Burger Priest uses only fresh angus beef, so there’s a sense of satisfaction and quality with every bite. We’d recommend using our Platinum 126, which can take you from Birmingham to Wolverhampton. With extra legroom, comfortable seats and onboard WI-FI you’ll be be able to relax as you explore the West Midland’s Millennium City.

6. Escape to Escape Live

  • Explore an exciting new kind of attraction that can be enjoyed on your own or with friend. Escape rooms like Escape Live, near Livery Street (underneath the Arches) offer a unique experience as you attempt to escape a room by solving a series of puzzles within a time limit. Use either our 16 or 74 buses which will drop you off a few minutes away.

5. Have a bite at the Digbeth Dining Club

  • Creating a stir in the food scene is the Digbeth Dining Club, a weekly gathering of Birmingham’s latest and greatest food innovation. Held every Friday in Digbeth, the event brings together some of the best street food in the city. And with parking limited in Digbeth we’d recommend hopping on one of our numerous services which serve Digbeth regularly.

4. A day out at Dudley Zoo

  • We have a soft spot for Dudley Zoo, with more than 1300 species to see, as well as an opportunity to see the ruins of Dudley Castle. This local gem makes for a very unique experience, see anything from Tigers to Chimpanzees all while in the shadow of an ancient castle. Just 4 minutes away from Dudley bus station.

3. Get a 50 to try the 50

  • We may be a bit bias here but the Dark Horse in Moseley has a great pizza known as the No.50 named after our route, which is said to be one of the most travelled bus routes. With Moseley being a short bus ride on our 50 service, it’s an obvious choice; get the 50 to try the 50 at the Dark Horse.

2. Go to a gig at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath

  • The Hare & Hound is a part of music history, being the first venue that Birmingham’s own, UB40 played their first gig back in 1979. Today it is a local gem just outside the city centre, featuring young up and coming musicians. It has also featured big names from the likes of Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding. Jump on our 50 bus and enjoy.

1. Student nights on Broad Street

  • Broad Street has the most established Students nights in the city. From Walkabouts “I heart Tom’s mom” night to Stupid Tuesdays at Bliss, Broad Street is the place to be. If you’re thinking of heading down to Broad street our buses such our 9. 22 and 23 services serve Broad street regularly. Getting an evening5 ticket could easily get a group of 5 out and back for just £5

Direct Debit Payments

What is the next step once I have applied?

You will be given the opportunity to pay for your first ticket by credit / debit card so you benefit from our services within 5 days of receiving your application.

Your direct debit application will take approximately 10-15 days to process. You will receive a welcome letter confirming your details and payments timescales. Your next ticket will arrive 5 working days before the expiry of the first ticket and payment will be collected from the bank account details supplied.

Is my application accepted automatically?

A Credit Reference Agency will be asked to confirm the name, address and credit status of the person paying the Direct Debit.

When will the money be taken from my account?

The first direct debit payment from your account will be taken on the initial start day of your ticket, for instance if you selected a start date of 1st August 2013 (you will pay for this ticket by credit / debit card) your direct debit will be collected on 1st September 2013 for the subsequent ticket. This calendar date will then be the date your debit payment is made for every month that you are a member of the scheme. If this falls on a bank holiday, your payment will be taken the next working day.

Can West Midlands Travel Ltd change the amount they take out of my account?

We will only collect the authorised amount. If the amount changes, we will notify you in writing at least 10 working days in advance.
